Materials and Care

Every Velori piece starts the same way: solid 925 sterling silver, plated in 18k gold. Not brass. Not stainless steel. A precious metal core, the whole way through.

That distinction is the reason this page exists. Most jewellery at this price point is base metal with a thin gold wash — which is why it turns your skin green within a month. Ours isn't.

What "18k gold plated" means here

The gold sits on a sterling silver base rather than brass or steel. Silver is itself a precious metal, so the plating has something worth protecting underneath it — and it means that if the plating ever wears at a high-contact point, what shows through is silver, not a dull grey base metal.

Colour

Available in 18k gold and white gold, both plated over the same solid 925 sterling silver base. The metal, weight and construction are identical between colours — only the plating differs.

Caring for your piece

Demi-fine jewellery rewards a little care. A few habits will keep the plating looking new for years rather than months:

  • Put it on last, take it off first. Perfume, lotion and hairspray are the fastest way to dull plating — apply them before you dress, not after.
  • Avoid chlorine and salt water. Remove jewellery before swimming.
  • Wipe after wear. A soft, dry cloth after each wear removes the oils and residue that dull shine over time.
  • Store it out of direct sunlight, ideally somewhere it won't rub against other pieces.

One-off pieces

Most Velori pieces are made in very small numbers. When a piece sells, it's gone. If something you want is unavailable, our contact page is the fastest way to ask.
